When we choose place to install antenna, do you know what to pay attention to?

Precautions when we install the antenna

Whether the satellite TV receiving antenna is erected on the ground or on the building, the location selection is a primary link. We must fully consider the local natural environment and electromagnetic environment. The basis for selecting the location includes: the field strength of the satellite signal, the interference of the surrounding environment, the convenience of operation, the convenience of networking and other factors. When choosing an address to install antenna, we should note following points.

There should be no obstacles in the direction of the antenna pointing to the satellite

There should be no obstacles in the direction of the antenna pointing to the satellite, that is, there should be an open field of vision. Regardless of the size of the antenna caliber, the satellite antenna should be erected at the highest point in the local open space as much as possible, avoiding the obstruction of the antenna beam by hillsides, woods, high-rise buildings, iron towers, radar stations, microwave communication stations and high-voltage transmission lines. There should be enough field of view in the direction of the main beam of the antenna, and there should be as wide a field of view as possible right in front of the antenna. It is generally required that the base point of the antenna is used as a reference, and the angle formed by the highest point of the obstacle is less than 3 degrees.

Install the antenna,it must have a solid foundation

The erection of satellite antennas, especially large size antennas, it must have a solid foundation to ensure that it can fully bear the load of the antenna itself, and cannot collapse or be pulled up by the “root” in the event of strong winds. The installation position of the satellite antenna should avoid the tuyere to reduce the wind load of the antenna. When the wind load of the antenna is too large, it may cause the antenna deformation and affect the satellite signal reception effect.

There should be no interference sources around the satellite antenna.

The direction corresponding to the antenna should avoid radar stations, microwave communication stations and high-voltage wires, etc., and try to avoid these interference sources; for non-co-frequency interference, due to the frequency selection effect of the satellite receiver, the allowable interference level is greater than the signal level, but not too large, so that the LNB enters a saturated state, otherwise a band-pass filter should be added between the LNB and the feed to filter out interference signals. Special attention should be paid when erecting in urban buildings with severe microwave interference. In order to ensure the quality of signal reception, a spectrum analyzer or microwave field strength meter should generally be used to measure the satellite antenna erection position on the spot, and use terrain or buildings to cleverly avoid microwave interference.

We need to consider the load-bearing capacity of the building

If we choose install antenna on a building, we should consider the destructive impact on the roof caused by the force of the ground station under the storm conditions, that is, the load-bearing capacity of the building.

The antenna should be installed as far as possible in a place that is not easily accessible

If we install teh antenna on flat ground, especially in rural primary and secondary schools, we should pay attention to the shelter of school buildings, walls, and trees, and pay more attention to the safety of students. we should try to install antenna in places that are not easy for students to touch, or add fences around the antenna. The RF cables should be routed in the ground or in the air. When buried underground, use a 20mm steel pipe or PVC pipe as the cable jacket. When erecting in the air, the height must be more than 2.5m. When the distance in the air exceeds 10m,we should use steel strands.

The distance between the outdoor installation location and the indoor receiver should be short

We should consider the distance between the outdoor installation location and the indoor receiver when we install the antenna, the distance between the outdoor installation location and the indoor receiver shall be as short as possible, and the RF cable to the receiver socket should be as short as possible to reduce the signal loss caused by the long transmission line, generally within 30m. The transmission line selection should consider the use of coaxial cables with better performance, preferably 75-7 or 75-9 coupling core cables or physical high-foaming cables, and the cable joints should be waterproofed.

We must take lightning protection measures

In areas with many thunderstorms, the installation position of the satellite antenna should avoid the places where lightning strikes occur frequently. At the same time, we should take various lightning protection measures to prevent lightning strikes. If the lightning rod is to be installed, the grounding of the lightning rod should be good.
